Mining for Chocolate Chips!

What we did - We tried to get as may chips as possible. We moistened (using water) the area we were going to mine. We used a toothpick to mine with.

What we found - Sometimes the cookie broke. Too much water made the "earth" very mushy. Sometimes where we dug there were holes in the cookie. Too much pressure from the toothpick could destroy the area where we were mining. Even after removing our "find" (the chocolate chip) it still had crumbs on it. Sometimes the chip was needing to be removed in pieces not a whole chip. Some chocolate chips were soggy.

Our Average Chip count was - about 14 per cookie.

If the cookie crust was "earth" - there would have been danger of the area collapsing and possibly not having any survivors from the accident. The area would be unable to be mined again. Some of the mine finds could be saved in whole pieces.
