About Us
The Bishop Kelley Catholic School Difference
Bishop Kelley is an Immaculate Conception Parish school. We service the greater Lapeer area, including North Branch, Metamora, Imlay City, Almont and Davison. Bishop Kelley has a very specific mission of developing the next generation of Catholics. We pride ourselves on our exceptional religious and academic education. Our BKCS educators prioritize Christ in all that we do. Bishop Kelley Catholic School is more than an academic institution. It is a family and a community committed to giving our children and students the best in life. Every morning, students and families are greeted by Bishop Kelley School principal, Mrs. Barron. One of the many advantages of our intimate school community is that each family and every child is known by name. This relationship is so important in helping students shine and in supporting parents in the growth of their children. It also helps families experience firsthand the genuine care and consideration BKCS and its teachers have for each child. Each day class is started with prayer, helping students build a personal relationship with Christ Jesus and setting the tone for the rest of the day. Students show a joy and fullness of life that we contribute to the presence of Christ within our halls. This joy comes from growing spiritually and becoming the beautiful people God created each of us to be. It overflows in our classrooms, students, and staff, and is absolutely priceless. Our founder, Bishop Francis Clement Kelley said, "If you begin right, you will end right. If you plant good seeds, good things will grow... If you begin with God, you are likely to end with God." Let us help your precious children begin with God. |
Academic Excellence
Parents feel confident in the excellence of Bishop Kelley Catholic School’s religious and academic education. As a direct result of their education at BKCS, students become creative thinkers and problem solvers. Students gain substantial academic knowledge, self-confidence, and maturity that enables them to have grace under pressure. Children forge lifelong friendships with peers who will help them become the people God envisioned them to be. Through focus and discipline, students achieve their very best. In short, our students graduate BKCS prepared to succeed in the rigors and challenges of secondary education and continue growing spiritually, academically, and socially. |
The Value of a Preschool through 8th Grade Environment
The younger children are in awe of their upper classmates who are a guiding force to these children. It is the very best of mentoring. The older students conduct themselves with pride knowing that they are an example for those coming up behind them. This multi-age community mimics life and so feelings of belonging and purpose are strengthened. There is also academic benefit to this environment. Teachers of upper grades are able to get to know students from an early age and have a strong understanding of unique needs and learning styles. Teachers work together to create a curriculum that does more than simply teach to the test; it prepares students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in high school and in life. It also instills within them a natural curiosity to continue learning, exploring, and discovering throughout their lifetime. |
