The FACTS application, Parent Information Sheet and Pastor’s Signature form are available by visiting https://www.detroitcatholicschools.org/tuition-assistance-scholarships. The Parent Information Document details the process, deadline dates and other essential information. It is important to read this document in its entirety before you apply for tuition assistance. If you have any questions, please consult Dan Dudzinski, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church’s Bookkeeper, at 810-664-8594. LET MI KIDS LEARN: Petition drive FOR TAX CREDIT TUITION PAID There is a nonpartisan effort to enable low-income students in public and nonpublic schools, including Bishop Kelley to have more educational opportunities but it needs your help to succeed. The Michigan Catholic Conference on behalf of the Catholic Bishops of Michigan is supporting the “Let MI Kids Learn” Petition Drive. It would create “student opportunity scholarships” to low-income families for their out-of-pocket education expenses such as tutoring, school supplies, computers, tuition etc. It also creates a tax credit for donations to scholarship organizations, including Catholic school foundations. The petition drive needs 340,000 signatures to pass without the governor’s signature (she vetoed similar measures last fall). Please volunteer to help with the signature drive and of course prayerfully consider signing the two petitions (one for the tax credit and one for the scholarship program). The deadline to submit petitions to the Let MI Kids Learn organizers is May 11. For more information contact Paul Stankewitz, Michigan Catholic Conference, 517-316-3585; or info@letmikidslearn.com. We also have additional information in the school office. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT INITIATIVE AND WE NEED HELP FROM YOU AND THE COMMUNITY! THANK YOU! 2022 WALK-A-THON T-SHIRT ORDER FORM

Remember to include: Theme – With A Father’s Heart 26th Annual Walk-A-Thon Date of event: June 3, 2021 How it gets done:
Important – the design has to be re-created at school. Note: Students that have taken time to design something before we com to the classroom normally have won the contest. The best 3-4 designs will be determined by the Walk-A-Thon T-shirt design committee. Those designs will be presented to the students to vote on the winning design. This has always been a lot of fun! We look forward to seeing lots of talent from our Bishop Kelley Students! March 25, 2022
Dear Parents, We are sending home the Walk-A-Thon T-shirt sponsor forms today. Each BKS student receives a free T-shirt for the walk-a-thon. In the past, we have been able to cover the cost of the T-shirts through our generous sponsors. Please distribute these forms to businesses or people you feel would like to help BKS and advertise on the back of the T-shirt. One of the most successful ways to do this is to ask businesses you patronize on a regular basis, ex: the pharmacy you use, car wash, car repair shop, etc. Additional sponsor forms are available in the office or feel free to make copies. Thank you, as always for your support and generosity. 2022 BISHOP KELLEY SCHOOL WALK-A-THON SPONSOR FORM Thank you for sponsoring the Bishop Kelley Catholic School Annual Walk-A-Thon. Your generous donation will assist in covering the cost of printing t-shirts. Each student will receive a t-shirt, free of charge, to wear during the event. Additional shirts will be made available for purchase for parents, grandparents and others attending our event. As a sponsor, your name will be displayed on a t-shirt that will be worn by children and adults throughout our community on more than just our event day. Your generosity can also be your advertising gain. Our goal is to have all pledge monies the children receive go directly toward Bishop Kelley Catholic School. The monies collected from our generous sponsors and donors will cover the cost of hosting the Walk-A-Thon and associated activities for the students. WALK-A-THON SPONSORS LEVELS BRONZE - $200.00 Name printed on T-shirt SILVER - $400.00 Name printed on T-shirt & display certificate indicating your Support GOLD - $550.00 Name printed on T-shirt, display certificate indicating your Support & recognition plaque display at BKCS In an effort to ensure accuracy please fill out the bottom of this form and return it to the school office no later than Friday, April 22, 2022 to meet our printing deadline. Classical EDUCATION: EDUCATION THAT IS ESSENTIAL Bishop Kelley Catholic School has been using these challenging times to move to a foundational system of education. The educational system called “Classical Education” was developed over two millennia with the goal of forming wise young minds. At the core of classical education is the Trivium -- the three branches of learning (grammar, logic, and rhetoric) -- adapted to the development of children. What is Classical Education? Classical Education teaches students facts, provides them with logical tools to use those facts, and perfects the students’ ability to relate those facts to others. It helps students draw original, creative, and accurate conclusions from facts and then formulate those conclusions into logical and persuasive arguments. The Classical method inspires students to learn, to think and contemplate, and to pursue knowledge. Subjects are taught in an integrated approach that helps students make sense of the world. For example, students learn the impact of Math, Science, the Arts and the History of a certain time period, leading to knowledge and understanding of how these subjects relate to each other. Classical Education is a Christian model that provides:
