“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us”

He began his career in Salem, Oregon, at South & West Salem High Schools, teaching high school Government, Economics, Video Production, and U.S. History, before moving to teach Government, Video Production, and coach football in Tennessee, for two years at Cannon County High School, Woodbury, Tennessee. Later, Mr. Willoughby joined his wife, Catherine, also an educator, in Oxford, Michigan.
Mr. Willoughby has a Bachelor of Arts (history and political science) and Masters in the Art of Teaching from Willamette University, Salem Oregon. After working at the “hardest job in my life,” as a stay at home dad for two and a half years, Mr. Willoughby continued his career in education as an educator at St. Joseph Catholic School, Lake Orion, and as an associate principal at Our Lady of Sorrows, Farmington. During his time at St. Joseph’s, Mr. Willoughby also participated in the Oakland Schools Aspiring Principals Program.
Gar and his wife Catherine enjoy travelling, golfing, and visiting with family and friends. The couple are parishioners at St. Joseph's Church, Lake Orion. Their son Benjamin, turning six in September, is a constant source of joy, adventure, and a reminder of God’s amazing miracles. Mr. Willoughby is proud to be a part of Bishop Kelley Catholic School and looks forward to working with the Bishop Kelley community to continue the school’s rich and proud traditions.
